How to make your graph in 4 easy steps

In this tutorial we show you how you can make a scatter plot, but there are many other plot types available.

Step 1: Enter data

You can either:

  • copy and paste data from Excel, or

  • upload other file types, or

  • choose a pre-loaded sample dataset to play with

As soon as your data has loaded, you will see an overview of the data. This is just for your information, you don't need to do anything with that. So onwards to step 2!

Step 2: select the main variable you want to plot

This is the main variable you are interested in. For most plot types, this variable will go on the vertical Y-axis.

When you select one of the variables, Graph Genie will choose smart defaults for all the other settings, and produce a graph instantly. When you change a setting, the graph is updated immediately to reflect your changes.

Step 3: select the type of graph you want

You can always switch back and forth between graph types to see which one you like the best.

Each graph type has unique options on the right, so go ahead and tweak it till you're satisfied with the result.

In the slider below you can see how we change several options on the right and each modifies the graph on the left.

Step 4: download as pdf / png / jpeg / svg

You can specify the size (A4 / A5 / A6 etc.) and the portrait / landscape orientation.

Done!

Go ahead and try it yourself (no data needed: if you don't have a data set ready, you can select one of the sample datasets in stead).
